ISSUES IN WARD 66  FOR THE ABM IN THE SOUTH DURBAN BASIN TO
FLAG:

1)  RELOCATION OF CONTAINER TRUCK DEPOTS from Edwin Swales VC Dve to Cato
Ridge. Greater use of rail. Partnership with Spoornet, Transnet, Propnet needed.

2) ROBOTS:  Umbilo feed into Edwin Swales
             Unnamed lane 300 m from Bluff Rd in Edwin Swales
             Intersection of Grays Inn & Brighton Rds.
             Intertsection of Bideford & tara Rds.

3)  CLAIRWOOD: Overhead walkway bridge for pedestrians South Coast / Blamey Rds

4.1) CLAIRWOOD: Town planning needs to be applied so as to weed out and halt further
trucking operations and other commercial interests that have infiltrated the residential core.

4.2)  CLAIRWOOD: Council-owned land must be cleaned up, fenced off OR sold.


5) SPEEDHUMPS: Garmouth, Welfreer, Smith, Admiral, Nirvana, St Patricks, Garcin, Oriel,
Netford, Bushlands, Wade, Marathon, Armstrong, Brixham, Shamrock, Donald, Watsonia
                      Spanier Marson:  ALL on the BLUFF / WENTWORTH

                      Horsham and Sastri - CLAIRWOOD

6.1) ROAD RESURFACING: MARINE DRIVE : from Nicholl Rd to Crossways. last done 1990
- up to Anstey Rd the balance not done since 1980.
6.2) ROAD RE-SURFACING: BEACH RD  from Lancelot to Tara Rd. Very uneven and falling
away at the edges.

7) CRASH RAILINGS: Down  Bluff rd from Super Spar: unsightly need to be pressure
cleaned. New ones needed outside FNB in Grays Inn Rd

8) BASIC MAINTENANCE TO STORM WATER DRAINS: Clogged by sand, plastic, and other
debris.

9) STREET SWEEPING: Not happening. Many shocking examples: Edwin Swales Dve,
Brighton Rd near Wentworth Rd, Marine Dve between Convent and Netford Rd. Lighthouse
Rd between Donegal and Tara.

10) BIG TRUCKS ON THE BLUFF: None above 9 tonnes permitted. Bylaw routinely ignored.
Travel fast and furiously along Bluff and Lighthouse Rds.  METRO POLICE deterrent
needed.

11) ANTI-SOCIAL CONDUCT: ANSTEYS BEACH: Metro Police deterrent needed. Harsher
fines needed - not R100 for urinating in public or drunken conduct but R1,000 so as to
prove a real deterrent.

12) BAYVIEW SOCCER PARK: (St Patricks Rd/ Wentworth Rd) Needs to be properly fenced
off to prevent quadbikers taxis, loiterers.

13) DEBRIS ON VERGES: NO Council policing of this. Building debris lies there for up to a
year.

14) WEEDS AND OTHER SHRUBS GROWING IN GUTTERS, ON SIDEWALKS - must be
poisoned.

15) PUBLIC PARTNERSHIPS: in the case of traffic islands and flower beds: to be
encouraged

16) PROACTIVE ROLE IN MONITORING COUNCIL INFRASTRUCTURE:  Officials need to
be doing this. Cllrs cannot be expected to be able to cover the in excess of 200 roads in a
ward so as to monitor smashed drains, barriers, potholes etc.
