Love
First and foremost, love is not an emotion but a
principle. Emotions change continually, love, the
principle, is unchangeable.
It is an unconditional state, not a condition.
What we usually call love' is an emotional
condition.
We tend to confuse emotional attachment and
love. The word 'condition’ contains the concept of
conditionality, that is we want something first.
Love is a state of inner abundance from which we
can give unconditionally.
In this state of awareness you do not give to get
something back in return; you simply overflow.
The corollary to this is that if you are not beyond
the ego you cannot really love. Therefore, as long
as you are enclosed in an ego you cannot truly
communicate either. If you come from wants and
from need, you latch onto others in order to get
something from them. Attention for example. Or
recognition. Or money. Or admiration. Or
acceptance.
In communication, love manifests itself in
undivided attention for others. Joe Girard, one of
the top salespeople we will be discussing later,
once said: 'Everyone wants to feel important. The
best way to show someone that he is important
is by giving him your full attention. If I am talking
to a customer and a fire engine races by with
wailing sirens, or my cell phone rings my
attention does not move one inch from my
customer.
If you allow yourself to be distracted, the implicit
message is that the fire engine or the cell phone
caller is more important than the customer. This
is fatal for communication and trust.
'Love has no opposite’ says A Course in

(Shucman, H., Thetford, WI. A Course in
Miracles. Penguin Press, 1992. )
Jesus said - John 15:9 As the Father hath loved
me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye
shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my
Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye
love one another, as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Joh 15:17 These things I command you, that ye
love one another.
Love is a state of inner wholeness, inner
indivisibility. This brings us to the definition of the
word individual.
