Over the last week, a pub had an armed robbery, a restaurant also had an armed robbery, a woman was attacked in broad daylight in Tara road and a kid was attacked near Parsons Road by a vagrant who wanted his cell phone. Fortunately he was not injured and managed to get away. So what’s going on? We don’t know at the moment but what I do know is that it is time to start securing our streets. We can sit back and hope it doesn’t happen to us or we can do something. It is not that hard really, visible, deterrent type policing has been proved to be the most effective tool against crime in other countries and we can do it here. We did it at the beach; now let’s do the entire Bluff! We can and will make the Bluff the safest suburb in the country again! Thanks Rake Jeeves Sounds like drunk driving! At around 04h00 this morning I was woken about by a big bang. I looked out of my window and did not see anything but I was not the only one that heard the bang, as there were other people coming out of their houses looking around. I went back to bed and at 04h30 heard cars reversing, people talking and looked out my window to see a big crowd of people with 2 tow trucks and an ambulance. From my impression someone must of driven their car down the embankment (a big open grass patch) between Athol Tearoom on Bluff Road. I kept an eye out to see what was all the comosion. Not surprising to me but the police rocked up 45 minutes later…Then to my surprise at 05h45 a smashed up BMW was placed onto one of the big tow trucks and taken away. On my way to work, I looked back and the car had not gone down the embankment but into the tea room. I do not know if this car was stolen or the driver ran away. ******************************** A lot of residents are very concerned about the Bluff woman that was attacked in Tara road and want action. Why can't we lie in ambush and take the offensive, these animals need to know that they do not have the freedom to poach royal game in our area. This is war, as in any military or martial art exercise, you do not wait for your opponent to strike and then counter attack. You recognise the threat and remove it with force. Come on guys, we need to be more awake than this!!! **********************************
A resident wants her street and the Bluff secured. I am keen on patrols and live in the top part of gray park road, But, as you say, the problem is not confined to the streets we live in, but to all over the bluff. I want to be able to go the shopping centre or send my kids without fear. So it is more than securing our own little street, but rather the whole Bluff. What would it cost to also patrol main streets? All walkers etc could then know they could safely walk along certain roads to get to things ************************ HAVE you lost your ID book? The Pavilion Shopping Centre is calling all those who may have lost their ID documents or driver's licenses, to please reclaim them at the Centre management offices, as yours could be one of the 60 or so found on the- centre's premises, over the past four months. Because of the obvious fraud implications, The Pavilion cannot release the identities of the people who have lost their documents. Please ask for Zama Khumalo or contact the Info Desk on 031 265 0558. ***************************
A resident has had enough of Edwin Swales. Hi Rake, As always you have our support in whatever you decide to do. It is outrageous that these animals have such an audacoius attitude! Please convey my condolences to the couple concerned. Regarding the trucks on Edwin Swales Drive, I suggest that through your vast email base we arrange a blockade at every entrance/exit that the drivers use. We must make it clear to them that their behaviour and the manner in which they hog the road is totally unacceptable to Bluff residents and that we will no longer tolerate such arrogant behaviour. I can count at least three incidents where my car was almost rammed by one of these trucks as I was driving home after fetching my son from school. Since their vehicles are so massive they know that ordinary motorists will stop in the middle of the road just to allow the trucks way. I hope that other residents agree with my suggestion. *************************************
