A resident cant rent out his house due to the
degradation of Fynnlands.
I am absolutely disgusted in the way the municipal managers have
aloud this part of Durban to degrade to the extent that I can't even
rent or sell my property.

We are relocating to the Western Cape due to job opportunities. We
have tried various agents on the Bluff to rent our home out, but all
say that the area we live in people don't want to rent. We have done
extensive work on the property, only to realise that it was in vain.

No wonder the crime is in the area, and if nobody does anything,
the entire Bluff will be at risk of social collapse. I have tried to be
part of the few that attend different meetings but I think that the
majority of the Bluff couldn't be bothered as to the future of the
surroundings. Meetings organised by different organisations are
attended by only a handful of concerned folk out of the thousands
that reside here.

Change will only take place in this area when every single person
takes action. A resident says its time to go on the offencive.

Re Never Ever Go Outside -

This is where it illustrates how nice it would be to have a lot of
people trained for the Police Reserve.  Anything suspicious, and
one would call out the neighbouring members,  who would then
come up behind the criminals and give them the surprise of their
lives more quickly than a security company is likely to respond.

It is high time that we were on the offencive rather than the defencive
.

Estate Agents beware. CIC sent us this.

Please be on the look out for three well dresses black men who
are targeting estate agencies in the Westville area.  It is believed
that the men enter the premises saying they need directions or that
they want to buy a house.  They then produce weapons and rob the
agency of cellphones, laptops, money and other items.  Should you
have any information, please contact your nearest police station or
the CIC on 0861 123 242.

Bogus Carpet Cleaners still doing their thing.

It is believed that there are three men going around in a white
bakkie (with canopy) and trying to gain entrance to residences in
the Bluff by saying that they work for a carpet cleaning company.
Please be vigilant and contact your security company, the SAPS or
CIC

A resident says: “There is no more traffic policing on the Bluff”

Bluff road is becoming a trucking lane, Marine drive a racing lane
and the entire Bluff a race track for bikes.

Bikes are becoming ridiculously noisy because these idiots are all
taking the silencers out of their exhausts???.

There is no traffic policing on the Bluff anymore.

Cars speeding, tailgating people, overtaking on blind rises etc.
carry on unabated
High food prices will cause crime to increase.

The ridiculously high increase in food prices is having an impact on crime. As people get to
the stage whereby they cannot afford food anymore they will turn to crime to feed their
families.

The price of even basic food stuffs have soared to such heights that the poor cannot afford
to eat the basic meals anymore. People will do what they have to survive and that is why
crime will carry on increasing. Who is to blame? Many factors but one thing is for sure, the
big companies are jumping on the bandwagon and using the petrol price increases and
other forces as an excuse to milk the public.

I think its time to expose these crooks that are placing massive profits on their products to
the detriment of the citizens. I think we must all become a little bit more aware of these con
artists and boycott their products or the supermarkets from where they are sold.

Thanks

WHY DO THEY DO GRAFFITI ??? by Graffiti
Removal services

Independent Newspapers were hit with
graffiti last week and after trying to remove
the large silver tag themselves, GRS were
called in to sort it out. I can only assume that
this act was some sort of challenge to see if
his tag would make the papers. The more
recognised their tags are the more fame is
carried in the graffiti world amongst other
graffiti crews.

Taggers say it is a means of expressing their
art or the talent they have. It’s all about getting
your tag name up on as many surfaces as
possible and to be the most dominant &
recognised in the Graffiti world.

Graffiti has a reputation as part of a
subculture that rebels against authority,
although the considerations of the
practitioners often diverge and can relate to a
wide range of attitudes. It can express a
political practice and can form just one tool in
an array of resistance techniques.
Unfortunately, Graffiti is often offensive and of
a racial nature.

In essence, the more visual the Graffiti the
more fame it creates for the individuals.
Furthermore, they get a psychological high
from seeing their “work” everywhere. As a
result, other offenders follow suit without fear
of being detected and to gain respect within
the culture. The implications of this are that in
a short space of time one could have a
number of offenders targeting a specific area.

Thrill seeking is another motivating factor for
some Graffiti vandals. Taggers often damage
property quite simply for the thrill of
overcoming the fear of getting caught and in
some cases, the fear of high places.
Although this sounds odd to most adults, it
can be a very strong motivator for taggers -
most of whom are under 18 years old

Goodliffe Ave Incident

My daughter, son-in-law and family live in above road with main access being Goodliffe.

A few weeks ago, individuals gained entrance by jumping over a neighbour's wall and
stealing their outside T.V (which had been strapped to it's supports) from their semi
enclosed outside entertainment area. A muddy footprint was found on the verandah outside
their granny flat (with granny inside) and the alarm was given by the small dog inside the
flat.

They replaced the TV Thursday before last and on Friday these people were back but stole
not only the brand new TV but emptied the fridge of all liquid contents AND stole
ston-in-laws car.

They were very lucky to receive a call late Saturday pm to say that the car had been found
Isipingo/Umlazi area. It was wedged between a tree and a house - badly dented down one
side, gearbox ruined and other body damage. He had to drive it like that to the Police car
pound in Isipingo. People involved were most supportive and helpful. They had reached
Quality Street on their way back home when they were called back to leave the vehicle's key
as the Police had to inspect the car/chassis number etc. This place not only has CCTV
cameras but is heavily guarded with tough security etc etc.

On returning a few days later guess what? the custom built head rests had been stolen. If
anyone in the Police force is interested enough to follow this up, names can be furnished of
all those dealt with at the pound.
